As we all know social media is constantly changing .Heck , you might be taking a nap and when you wake up there is a new way to beat the algorithm , a new trend to hop on and over time you might end up feeling like you are in a vicious cycle trying to keep up. We do not want to feel like hamsters now do we ?

Let us get into why riding the trendy bus all the time is bound to kill your brand especially as a small business .When it comes to authenticity small businesses tend to be at an advantage because of their size . It is easier to build one on one connections with people and bring in a breathe of fresh air unlike large corporations that no-one knows about the CEO.

However its normal to want to increase your reach and to grow as a brand , naturally you will gravitate towards what is popular and trendy in the moment. This will serve you , obviously. The challenge is if you hop on every trend and use the same artistic expression as almost every other brand online. What made you seem interesting and stand out is no longer there anymore and sorry to say it but you become "basic " and your average joe after some time.

Lets think about it from the context of fashion. In the 80s all people dressed in was bright colors and flared pants right ? Now fashion trends are different .There are exceptions to the rule and this is classic ,timeless pieces that were fashionable then and are still to date . Do you want to be the brand that was seasonal or evergreen ?

As we all know there is nothing new under the sun and humans value that which is unique to them .

People buy with their hearts and justify their purchases with their minds.

How you can stop being a cliché.

  1. Remind yourself of your brand purpose and start creating content that aligns with that purpose.https://www.bydemeter.com/post/what-is-a-brand-purpose-and-why-you-need-one

  2. Incorporate your personality into your brand . We are all very different and adding a little bit of spice helps.

  3. Stop creating for the sake of creating . You can skip a few trends here and there and it will not take away from what your brand stands for .

  4. Be a trend setter instead and have others follow your lead.

Lets go out there and create brands that are impactful . Until next post besties.
